Cataract Surgery Costs and Insurance Coverage

Investing in Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery costs depend on where you live, who performs your surgery
and the type of replacement lens, known as an intraocular lens (IOL), you choose.

Medicare and private insurance often cover at least a portion of the costs when you choose a monofocal IOL. Advanced technology lenses — such as AcrySof® IQ ReSTOR® multifocal IOLs and AcrySof® IQ Toric astigmatism-correcting IOLs — are typically not fully covered. However, the additional visual benefits that advanced technology lenses can provide make them worth the investment for many patients.

Many surgeons offer payment plans, so be sure to ask about your payment options.
